Mayweather on UFC's Ronda Rousey: I Don't Know Who He Is... Says Amir Khan Still has Garcia Problems |
UFC head honcho Dana White is big on Ronda Rousey, the mixed martial arts company's women's bantamweight champion. Recently he touched on the topic of how Rousey would do in a battle with the best boxer today, Floyd Mayweather.
"I didn't start the whole 'Ronda Rousey could beat Floyd Mayweather' thing. That didn't start with me. I just supported it and agreed 100 percent," White said in a video from MMA Junkie/USA Today. "You take a street fight, Ronda wins that fight and hurts him badly. You don an MMA fight, same result. Boxing match? Floyd Mayweather chews her up.
Mayweather spoke with a small group of media members on July 14, and when asked about another boxer as a potential opponent, he replied that "Everyone is trying to hit the lotto and fight Floyd Mayweather."
Another reporter saw an opening and decided to ask Mayweather: "What about Ronda Rousey?"
Also, back before Floyd Mayweather fought Marcos Maidana this past May, there had been a poll up on his website asking fans who they'd like to see him face — Maidana or Amir Khan.
Mayweather chose Maidana, won a decision and is fighting him again in a rematch this September. The pound-for-pound king spoke with a small group of reporters on July 14, and one reporter asked Mayweather would be facing Khan this fall instead had it not been for Khan saying he couldn't fight this September due to the fasting done for the holiday of Ramadan for several weeks during which a training camp would've been held.
